With a birth date and city, Selfetti calculates planetary positions across that local calendar day. The Sun usually stays in one sign; near a sign change it can have two candidates. The Moon moves more quickly and may also have two possible signs. Both are shown rather than choosing one. This is an astronomical calculation of positions, not evidence that those positions determine personality.
Why can't I get an exact rising sign?
The Ascendant depends on the local horizon at a particular instant. Across a full day, many or all twelve signs may rise, depending on location. Listing them as your result would add apparent precision without narrowing your birth time. We leave the Ascendant unknown and omit exact-time aspects. We do not use noon to pretend that your rising sign is known.
How to use the calculator
Enter your date, select your birth city, then choose ‘I don't know my birth time’. The city supplies coordinates and an IANA time zone. The calculation checks the actual local day's boundaries, including clock changes. If your town is missing, use a nearby city in the same historical time-zone region or enter a confirmed UTC offset manually.
What if my birth time is only approximate?
An approximate time is useful context, but a single calculated Ascendant can still be wrong near a boundary. Selfetti's known-time mode treats the entered time as exact. If the record is uncertain, use the unknown-time mode and compare what remains possible; do not infer a time from a personality description.
Where can I check a recorded time?
A birth certificate, hospital record or family record may contain a time, though availability varies. Record whether it was approximate and whether the clock used daylight saving time. A city lookup cannot correct a mistaken record. You can explore symbolic Sun and Moon interpretations without filling that gap.
